Hendon Hooker, a program-changing quarterback, led Tennessee back to national prominence in his two seasons with the Vols. He began his college career at Virginia Tech, earned his undergraduate degree and spent four seasons with the Hokies before transferring to Tennessee on January 8, 2021.
In 49 career games with 37 starts—including 24 games (22 starts) at Tennessee—Hooker has totaled 11,053 yards of offense, completing 632-of-944 passes (66.9%) for 8,974 yards and 80 touchdowns with only 12 interceptions. He has also rushed for 2,079 yards on 517 carries with 25 touchdowns, including four 100-yard rushing games.
In his two seasons at UT, Hooker completed 435-of-632 passes (68.8%) for 6,080 yards with 58 touchdowns and just five interceptions—breaking Peyton Manning’s school record for career completion percentage. He added 1,046 rushing yards on 270 carries with 10 scores, placing him among the most dynamic dual-threat quarterbacks in Vols history.
His Tennessee highlights include a historic home victory over Alabama in 2022, breaking the program record for consecutive games with a touchdown pass (20), and attempting 261 consecutive passes without an interception—the longest streak in school history and third-longest in SEC history.
